Philosophy


Every client is different, so our approach must be as well. Every organization we work with has a unique mix of goals, capabilities, and culture. We work hard to modify our approach to fit your situation and circumstances.

If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. Not all decisions are easy or popular, but they still have to be made. Implementing any change initiative in an academic setting takes time and patience. We are here to help you make the tough decisions based on sound advice.

Data is only useful if it is valid. One of the most important questions you can ask yourself; is our assessment data accurate? If you are not comparing apples to apples, making evidence-based decisions with the goal of continuous improvement becomes an exercise in futility.

We believe in responsive and continuous development. Being an agile company, we build software constantly; all day, every day. There are only 3 rules that apply to any development; it must be pedagogically sound, useful to all clients, and be fiscally responsible to develop.

Sustainability is a key part of our philosophy. While it’s tempting to use an assessment system just for that upcoming accreditation visit, such singular use may disengage faculty and students. Why not just build a sustainable evidence-based assessment culture instead?

Openness is always a good policy . Enterprise systems are growing increasingly complex and evermore integrated. Our system must fit into your enterprise framework with a minimum amount of effort and cost. Because of this we invest heavily in openness and APIs. 

We are not your vendor: we are your partner. Every relationship we enter into has reinforced to us that our success is invariably linked to yours. If you do not succeed we do not succeed. When both sides get this, it becomes virtually impossible to go wrong.

Consulting and mentoring shouldn’t cost a fortune. You are already paying for the product, why should you then pay for advice on how to best utilize it? Our goal is to see you maximize the use of our products and that always involves on-going support that you should not hesitate to seek out.

Work smart and stay lean. Some technology companies spend less than 15% of their budget on R&D and more than 50% on sales & marketing. There is something very wrong with this picture. We focus our resources on that which creates value for our clients.

We are here to help you. Support is an important part of any relationship and one we take very seriously. Our motto is that if you can’t figure something out in 15 minutes, drop what you are doing and give us a call. We might be able to help.

Protecting your data is paramount. Any data that exists on our servers is entirely yours, but it is ours to protect. Many of our clients have student work samples going back many years. Your data should be accessible and portable should you need to export it.

Always tell the truth even if it may harm us. Nobody likes to hear a corporate “talk track.” We believe our clients have the right to know what we are up to as a company. Staying transparent is a big part of what we are about.
