eP4.1 - Upgrades to Administrator Features including Forms Creation, Online Reporting, Table of Contents Creation & Management, and much more.

Over the past several months we’ve been busy upgrading several of the features available in Chalk & Wire in order to make your work more enjoyable, faster and better looking.

Students, faculty, and administrators alike will now see a new, more efficient text editor that appears on the page rather than within a modal window. A new ‘To Do’ feature has been made available for Collaborative Workspaces, as well as a commenting system that can be enabled for shared URL’s. Faculty can now include both text and audio comments on submitted video/audio media in much the same way that commenting is currently included on page text. Beyond these, and a small number of modest adjustments to the look and feel of system alerts and buttons, the majority of new features, enhancements and changes have been directed at those with administrative responsibility.

In 2012, our focus has been on streamlining administrator workflow and increasing functionality. Here are just some of the things we’ve been working on that will be available to system administrators in eP4.1, set to be released to all institutions using Chalk & Wire on August 10th, 2012:

Save Time - Standards Sets Importer
The eP4.1 release now offers the ability to import standards sets from an original source in 3 easy steps. Gone are the days of manual entry: simply copy and paste your standard set text, define your sections, and drag and drop each section to create the desired hierarchy.

Gather Data - Forms Creation & Management Upgrade
Chalk & Wire has updated and streamlined the way that Forms are created and launched.

Explore Data - Online Reporting (Results Live)
Whether you are familiar with our CWR tool or not, the power of the new, dynamic, online reporter will be immediately apparent. This feature allows you to generate, view, save, export and share reports quickly and easily.

Get Organized - Streamlined Table of Contents Creation & Management
Table of Contents creation and management has been revamped in eP4.1. A streamlined user interface allows for the creation and review of content from a single screen in most cases. A new ‘System Tables of Contents Library’ has been included. Available to all institutions using Chalk & Wire, standardized (including TPA) TOCs from this collection can be imported and modified in your site.

The links below will provide you with documents explaining eP4.1 enhancements for each major user role, as well as short PowerPoint presentations that can be modified by your institution. These may be shared and/or used in meetings at the start of the academic year. In addition, on-screen alerts in new and updated areas of the software will let users know where changes have been made and will link them to appropriate online, searchable help materials if needed.

The Upgrade Process:

Upgrading is quick and easy

EP4.1 updates will start being applied at 10:00pm EST on August 10th, 2012. This is a rolling update and sites will be offline for an estimated 15-20 minutes during this maintenance window. The maintenance window is estimated to end with all clients upgraded by 9:00 AM EST August 13th, 2012.
Your data is transferred directly. Upgrading to eP4 from eP4.1 does not pose a threat to existing portfolios or assessment/reporting data.
